Misha Films is a visual concept studio established in New York by the husband and wife creative team of Misha Z + Misha V.

“The company was founded from our interest in the creative and visual story telling possibilities stemming from the combination of real live action and computer generated imagery. This encompasses traditional animation methods, 3D computer animation and the unique juxtaposition of live action on stage with both real and virtual spaces and characters.”

Misha Z. previously had a very successful career in computer animation, working for and directing at companies like Mainframe Entertainment, Electronic Arts and Industrial Light and Magic. Misha V. has directed close to a dozen of films for TV and worked for five years as a story editor in Hollywood. Over the years Misha Films has assembled a network of creative individuals and companies from different environments, which enables them to expertly deliver their services in broad variety of environments.

In May of 2001, Misha Films, in collaboration with choreographer David Parsons, designed and produced large-scale projections for American Ballet Theater performance of the “Pied Piper” at the Metropolitan Opera. One year later Misha Films created visuals for the performance of “Don Quixote” at the Saito Kinen Music Festival in Japan. In 2003, Misha Films collaborated with other New York artists on the projections for the new opera by Doug Cuomo: “Arjuna’s Dilemma” (dir. Wendall Harrington). Just recently, Misha Films completed a collaboration with the Envision Center at Purdue University on the first part of animated visuals for a live multimedia performance act of the New Century Saxophone Quartet: “J.S. Bach: Art of Fugue”.

Misha Films is presently developing “Spirits” -- cross-media theatre performance piece combining the use of puppets, human action and projected animations with the designer/puppeteer Michael Curry. “Finn”, a performance piece written by Jocelyn Clarke and combining real and projected characters is under development at Mabou Mines and will open theatrically in the US in 2008.
